Top Dodgers News

  • Dodgers' Justin Wrobleski: Sent to Triple-A

    Rotowire

Wrobleski was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Sunday.

He picked up a four-inning save Saturday, so Wrobleski won't be available to pitch for a couple days. The 24-year-old lefty logged a 5.70 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 26:16 K:BB in 36.1 innings with the big club this season and will retain his prospect eligibility heading into 2025.

  • Dodgers' James Outman: Back in majors

    Rotowire

Outman was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Sunday.

With Kevin Kiermaier (dislocated finger) likely unavailable Sunday, Outman will offer quality defense and lefty power off the bench. Justin Wrobleski was optioned in a corresponding move.

  • Shohei Ohtani, Charlie Blackmon take center stage as Dodgers meet Rockies

    Stats

  • Dodgers' Chris Taylor: Three hits, stolen base in win

    Rotowire

Taylor went 3-for-3 with an RBI, a stolen base and a run scored in Saturday's win over the Rockies.

Taylor didn't enter the game until the bottom of the fifth but wasted no time in making his presence felt, reaching on an infield single in his first at-bat before going on to steal second. He added two more singles in his only other trips to the plate while also driving in and scoring a run for the second straight game. Taylor has posted multiple hits in back-to-back contests and is now batting .325 (13-for-40) in September with six RBI and eight runs scored. The stolen base was his fifth on the season and he's also swiped a bag in two straight.

  • Dodgers' Justin Wrobleski: Picks up four-inning save

    Rotowire

Wrobleski picked up the save over the Rockies on Saturday, allowing two hits and two walks over four scoreless innings while striking out four.

Wrobleski relieved Yoshinobu Yamamoto to open the sixth inning and went 1-2-3 through the top of Colorado's lineup before allowing each of the first two men to reach in the seventh. However, the southpaw was able to work his way out of the jam without taking any damage and managed to close out the contest for Los Angeles to pick up his first save of the campaign. It was a strong effort for Wrobleski, who was just recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City earlier that day, as he was able to eat up innings and help to provide additional rest for the Dodgers' bullpen leading up to the playoffs.

  • Dodgers' Yoshinobu Yamamoto: Earns seventh win

    Rotowire

Yamamoto (7-2) picked up the win over Colorado on Saturday, allowing two runs on four hits over five innings while striking out six.

Yamamoto got knocked around a bit early on, giving up singles to three of the first five men he faced before also surrendering a solo homer to Ezequiel Tovar in the bottom of the third. The right-hander did, however, manage to retire seven-consecutive batters from that point on before being relieved by Justin Wrobleski to open the sixth. It marked Yamamoto's longest outing since June 7 against the Yankees (span of four starts) while he also didn't issue a free pass for the first time in his last three starts. He now carries a 3.38 ERA in September to go along with a robust 21:5 K:BB over that stretch.

  • Dodgers' Kevin Kiermaier: Day-to-day with dislocated finger

    Rotowire

Manager Dave Roberts said after Saturday's 13-2 win over the Rockies that Kiermaier is day-to-day after dislocating his left ring finger, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Kiermaier was seen grabbing his finger after sliding into second base on an attempt to extend his RBI single in the fourth inning into a double. He was able to pop his finger back in, but he was replaced by Andy Pages in the bottom of the frame.

  • Dodgers' Ben Casparius: Optioned to Triple-A

    Rotowire

The Dodgers optioned Casparius to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Saturday.

Casparius performed well during his bulk-relief outing Friday, giving up one run and striking out seven batters over 4.1 innings. However, the Dodgers will send him back to the minors in an effort to stack their bullpen with as many fresh arms as possible. Justin Wrobleski will be the choice to take Casparius' place on the active roster.

  • Dodgers' Justin Wrobleski: Recalled from OKC

    Rotowire

The Dodgers recalled Wrobleski from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Saturday.

Wrobleski owns a 6.40 ERA and 1.42 WHIP through 32.1 major-league innings on the year, though his numbers are heavily inflated by a 10-run outing he endured Sept. 1 against Arizona. He'll return to Los Angeles to give the Dodgers a fresh multi-inning option out of the bullpen, replacing Ben Casparius.

  • Dodgers' Teoscar Hernandez: Ties career high with 32nd homer

    Rotowire

Hernandez went 3-for-5 with a two-run home run and a stolen base in Friday's 11-4 win over the Rockies.

He got the rout started by taking Cal Quantrill deep in the first inning. Since missing a handful of games earlier this month with an ankle injury, Hernandez has been locked in, slashing .321/.410/.604 over his last 14 contests with four homers, two steals, nine RBI and 10 runs. The 31-year-old also tied his career high Friday with his 32nd long ball of the year, and he has two more games at Coors Field to try and establish a new personal best.

  • Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani: Breaks record held by Ichiro

    Rotowire

Ohtani went 4-for-5 with a double, a home run, two runs scored, four RBI and a stolen base in Friday's 11-4 win over the Rockies.

While he took full advantage of a game at Coors Field with his bat, it was Ohtani's second-inning steal that allowed him to claim another record. With 57 pilfers on the season, Ohtani became the new single-season leader among Japanese-born players, topping the 56 steals recorded by future Hall of Famer Ichiro Suzuki in his 2001 AL Rookie of the Year and MVP campaign. The rest of Ohtani's numbers aren't too shabby either -- with two games left on the Dodgers' regular-season schedule, he's slashing .309/.390/.651 with 54 homers, 130 RBI and 133 runs. Luis Arraez's .314 batting average is all that's standing between Ohtani and a Triple Crown season.

  • Dodgers' Ben Casparius: Fans seven in bulk relief

    Rotowire

Casparius (2-0) picked up the win Friday, giving up two runs (one earned) on six hits and two walks over 4.1 relief innings in an 11-4 victory over the Rockies. He struck out seven.

Making only his third career big-league appearance, the 25-year-old right-hander took the mound at Coors Field after opener Ryan Brasier worked the first inning. Casparius wasn't daunted by the environment, tossing 55 of 85 pitches for strikes and setting a new career high in strikeouts. While he's unlikely to play a big role in the postseason for the Dodgers, Casparius may have put himself in the team's pitching plans for 2025. Between Double-A Tulsa and Triple-A Oklahoma City this year, the 2021 fifth-round pick posted a 3.35 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 106:46 K:BB through 88.2 innings before providing Los Angeles with a 2.16 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 12:4 K:BB in 8.1 September frames.

    Stats

  • Dodgers' Max Muncy: Not starting Friday

    Rotowire

Muncy is absent from Friday's lineup against Colorado, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Muncy has gone 1-for-9 with one run scored and three walks in his last three starts since returning from side soreness. He'll begin Friday's contest in the dugout as Chris Taylor draws the start at third base and bats eighth.

  • Dodgers' Will Smith: Gets breather Friday

    Rotowire

Smith is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Rockies, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Smith has gone 3-for-13 with one home run and two RBI over his last four games. He'll get some rest Friday, with Austin Barnes serving behind home plate and batting ninth.

  • Dodgers' Ryan Brasier: Starting bullpen game

    Rotowire

Brasier will start Friday's game against the Rockies, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.

The Dodgers will be relying on their bullpen to get them through Friday's contest at Coors Field, and they'll entrust Brasier with at least the first three batters as the opener. The 37-year-old owns a 3.33 ERA and 0.93 WHIP through 27 frames on the year, though his outing Friday will almost certainly be brief, as only two of his 28 appearances have lasted more than one inning.
