I’m sorry, FET failures are a whole different level of sadness �� we only got one embryo our first retrieval and it failed. I was devastated. Second retrieval we only got two, our second transfer failed and our third transfer was successful and I’m currently 15 weeks. We changed our FET protocol for the third transfer but so much of it comes down to luck and if those cells are developing correctly.

They say on average roughly 3 embryos result in 1 baby so it’s great that you already have one baby with one embryo left! I would try that last embryo but have a back up plan in place with your doctor for another potential retrieval. Best of luck!!

One idea when looking at changing things for your next cycle, if you haven’t already, is asking about further testing. I did a biopsy and had them test everything they could - Emma/alice, ERA etc. Between my 2nd and 3rd transfer we asked for it and found out my progesterone timing was way different than their usual protocol. (And the next transfer worked with new timing. Granted it could be luck that it worked that time but it felt like we found an answer.)

We are now trying for baby #2 and made them retest it first and it came back with yet a different recommended progesterone timing. It was an extra cost, but for me the embryos are so valuable it was worth it.

(No answer yet to how many transfers for baby 2 but my first transfer also failed. Also untested embryos.)
