Black Myth: Wukong gives players a tonne of leeway to modify their weapon combination. A wide variety of options are available in the Destined One to cater to different play styles, from the weapons and equipment you may choose to the benefits of your healing gourd.
Black Myth: Wukong’s Destined One’s healing drink can be enhanced with soaks. Every Keeper Shrine offers a different drink, and depending on your choice, you can equip one, two, or four Soaks. The correct soaks may have a significant impact on the game, affecting anything from resistance to spell strength and duration. You will find 27 Soaks scattered across the game. Here, we will show you all the soaks in Black Myth & how to get them. So, let’s begin!
Soaks in Chapter 1: Black Wind Mountain
Soak #1: Gall Gem
Bamboo Grove > Marsh of White Mist: Upon completing the next snake adversary, a cutscene will appear where a friendly NPC named “Shen Monkey” will automatically provide you this after you beat them immediately after this shrine.
Soak #2: Tender Jade Lotus
Black Wind Cave > Cave Interior: Collection made at random from Lotus plants. Upon entering the water from the shrine, a Jade Lotus will be seen on your right. But whether it’s a Tender Jade Lotus or not is totally up to chance. The region cannot be reloaded. It will respawn after 30 minutes, so you’ll have to go to a different chapter. That being said, you should probably go on to other things and check back sometimes to see how lucky you got.
Alternatively, you may try farming in a different watery area of the game or, better yet, save your game before you start farming. The plant will resurrect after 30 minutes of system time being advanced in PS5’s settings, followed by a reboot of the game. You may get it by continuously harvesting all the Lotus plants in the vicinity, as they can all drop it.
Soaks in Chapter 2: Yellow Wind Ridge
Soak #3: Laurel Buds
Sandgate Village > Village Entrance: Entering the town is as simple as crossing the bridge from the Shrine and then following the path that leads up the rocky hills to your right. A large gate in the village leads to the boss battle in this region. Direct your attention to the right side of the object, where a shaman rat guards a container.
Soak #4: Steel Ginseng
Fright Cliff > Squall Hideout: The ginseng plants were picked at random. Make your way to the Man-In-Stone spot from the shrine. An opportunity to collect ginseng arises at the very beginning of the trail that goes to him. But whether or not it’s a Steel Ginseng is totally up to chance. The region cannot be reloaded. It will respawn after 30 minutes, so you’ll have to go to a different chapter.
So, it’s best to go on to other activities and check back sometimes to see how things turn out, or, better yet, create a backup save before you start farming. The plant will resurrect after 30 minutes of system time being advanced in PS5’s settings, followed by a reboot of the game. You should keep picking ginseng plants wherever you find them since they can drop this at any time.
Soak #5: Iron Pellet
Fright Cliff > Squall Hideout: Man-In-Stone sells Iron Pellet for 6480 Will once you finish the Man-in-Stone questline.
Soak #6: Tiger Relic
Crouching Tiger Temple > Temple Entrance: If you want to utilize the statue in the boss arena, you’ll need to beat both the “Tiger Vanguard” boss and the “Stone Vanguard” monster before you may do so. At the base, it will reveal a hatch. To get to the basement, use this hatch; then, keep going down the cellar until you find a sand slide. Find a ledge with a table in front of you and stop before you go down. It’s at the very beginning of the slide, and getting there requires a leap and a powerful assault while in the air. The concealed container containing the soak may be found there.
Soak #7: Copper Pill
Crouching Tiger Temple > Temple Entrance: Once you’ve beaten the “Tiger Vanguard” monster, go straight ahead, and you’ll see a little golden container. Inside is this where an archer and a protected adversary are.
Soak #8: Goat Skull
Secret: Kingdom of Sahālī > Sandgate Bound: Dropped at random while picking “Licorice” plants. Up the hill to the south-west, facing the shrine, you’ll notice a statue of a shattered dragon. A licorice plant stands next to it. You can use these to make a goat skull plant. But whether or not it’s a goat skull is totally up to chance. The region cannot be reloaded. It will respawn after 30 minutes, so you’ll have to go to a different chapter. So, it’s best to divert your attention elsewhere and check back sometimes to try your luck, or, better yet, create a backup save before farming, if you can. Gather all of the “Licorice” samples in the Kingdom of Sahali until you obtain the Goat Skull; there are more samples nearby for you to try your luck with. The plant will resurrect after 30 minutes of system time being advanced in PS5’s settings, followed by a reboot of the game.
Soaks in Chapter 3: The New West
Soak #9: Celestial Lotus Seeds
Black Wind Mountain > Bamboo Grove > Marsh of White Mist: This item can be purchased from the Shen Monkey NPC located in the Bamboo Grove area of Black Wind Mountain, which is next to the Marsh of White Mist. Soon after the beginning of Chapter 3, this will be for sale. Returning to Shen Monkey is a breeze from any of the shrines.
Soak #10: Thunderbolt Horn
Black Wind Mountain > Bamboo Grove > Marsh of White Mist: This soak can be purchased from the Shen Monkey NPC located in the Bamboo Grove area of Black Wind Mountain, which is next to the Marsh of White Mist. Soon after the beginning of Chapter 3, this will be for sale.
Soak #11: Stranded Loong’s Whisker
Snowhill Path > Mirrormere: Cross the lake to the right from the Shrine. In the far corner of the lake, you can see a solitary, twisted tree perched on an undiscovered island. This Soak comes in this beautiful golden container.
Soak #12: Breath of Fire
Bitter Lake > Turtle Island: It’s dropped by the boss “Cyan Loong“. The Long Scales from Chapter 2 are necessary for this. Proceed to Turtle Island once you have obtained them. Just beyond this temple on the island’s far right side is a little sculpture of a dragon perched precariously on the brink of danger. It becomes a live dragon when you draw close to it, and a cutscene will play out as you face this fight. You must own the Loong Scales in order for it to spawn.
Soak #13: Turtle Tear
Bitter Lake > North Shore of the Bitter Lake: Continue straight ahead down the seashore from this shrine all the way to its finish. Be sure to beat the optional boss “Apramana Bat” that you’ll meet there. After that, there’s a large skeleton on the left; you may interact with it. The large turtle island will release a green tear during the resulting sequence. Quickly return to the path you took down the coast, keeping an eye out for the large turtle. You can locate a verdant coastal object beneath the turtle’s beak. This is the “Turtle Tear” Soak; go ahead and get it.
Soak #14: Sweet Ice
New Thunderclap Temple > Temple Entrance: If you’re coming from this shrine, head straight ahead until you see several red-robed monks striking a tree. Then, take the next set of stairs down into a room with a four-legged monster (a “Clay Vajra” according to the diary) in the center, and it blasts fire from its belly. Above the four-legged monster on the upper floor, you’ll find a little golden container; open it.
Soaks in Chapter 4: The Webbed Hollow
Soak #15: Goji Shoots
Everyone who casts the Ring of Fire spell frequently can benefit from the Goji Shoots. If you drink this, your next Ring of Fire spell will have more duration. By quickly renewing your concentration this may be quite useful if you completely upgrade Ring of Fire.
Gathering the Goji Shoots requires a U-turn at the Upper Hollow Shrine, with your back to the shrine. You should be able to see a staircase going up and to the left from here; that’s the one you should take. After you pass the structure at the top, continue ascending until you reach another set of stairs. These steps will take you to a building where the Goji Shoots are kept in a golden turtle-shaped box.
Soak #16: Purple-Veined Peach Pit
When you’re critically wounded, the Purple-Veined Peach Pit soak increases the healing you receive from taking a sip—a great asset to have on hand for monster encounters. To put it more practically, when the red light on your health meter flashes, you will gain enhanced recovery.
Begin at The Verdure Bridge Shrine and cross the wooden bridge beside it. After that, turn left and search for a gate surrounded by two stone lanterns to acquire this bath. Within, you’ll discover five treasure chests housing a variety of valuables, one of which being the Purple-Veined Peach Pit. There is a boss fight involving an Elder Amourworm just beyond this chamber.
Soak #17: Deathstinger
The Scorpion Prince, who is hiding near the Verdure Bridge Shrine, drops the consumable Deathstinger. Beginning at the wooden bridge by the shrine, take a left turn and follow the route illuminated by two lights; this will bring you to the gate that is flanked by two lamps, which leads to the Purple-Veined Peach Pit, where you will encounter this terrible enemy. Skip the gate and head to the second lamp on the route (not the one by the gate). Then, look to your right for a gap to leap down. Get off the horse and go along the trail to the settlement where the Scorpion Prince keeps watch.
Soak #18: Bee Mountain Stone
Every time you take a drink of the Bee Mountain Stone, a powerful yet luck-based bath, you have an opportunity to escape eating a gourd. You could get a lot more healing from this, but if you’re unfortunate, it could have no effect at all.
Before you may obtain the Bee Mountain Stone, you must travel to the Mountain Trail Shrine in the Temple of Yellow Flowers, part of the chapter. Following the trail past a Flywheel Daoist and up a different flight of steps is the way to get there from the shrine. Turn left at the top of the steps to see a little gated space centered around a huge tree. Located within this golden turtle box is the soak.
Soak #19: Fruit of Dao
For a brief period after drinking Fruit of Dao, your invincibility after dodging will last longer. Like the ones you’ll find right outside the Mountain Trail Shrine, these Flywheel Daoists must have farmed this plant. Fight them until one of them drops the soak; if you’re unfortunate, it could take a while.
Soak #20: Undying Vine
In Chapter 4, in the Secret Area called Purple Cloud Mountain, you may find the Lushleaf opponents and harvest their Undying Vine, which is a Soak. You may readily find these opponents near the Petalfall Hamlet Shrine; they seem like living trees that have been twisted into human shapes. It is possible to reach a bridge over this temple by going straight ahead. Head back, take the left route, and check in the bushes straight ahead to discover a second Lushleaf; the first one is to your left from here.
Soak #21: Double-Combed Rooster Blood
Chapter 4’s secret monster, The Duskveil, must be defeated in order to get the last Soak, the Double-Combed Rooster Blood, in Black Myth: Wukong. At the end of the Purple Cloud Mountain Area, you’ll find this boss. It’s heavily implied that this boss is the corrupted remnant of Maori Xingguan, also known as “Dawnstar Mao,” who transforms into a rooster and restores the Scorpion Queen to her true form in the original Journey to the West. Defeating this boss will drop the Double-Combed Rooster Blood. Be careful to defeat him first, for if you do, you will never be able to confront the Scorpionlord; the boss fight that follows.
Soaks in Chapter 5: The Flaming Mountains
Soak #22: Mount Lingtai Seedlings
When summoned with Pluck of Many, the Mount Lingtai Seedlings prolong the lifespan of Duplicates, making them an invaluable tool for inflicting damage to monsters. You should perform the spell as soon as you take a drink to maximize the soak’s impact, as it is triggered and only lasts for a limited period, like all soaks.
You must first make your way to the Camp of Seasons Shrine in the Wood of Embers in order to obtain the Mount Lingtai Seedlings. Here, you may find the Mount Lingtai Seedlings—in a little building with a golden turtle box—waiting for you at the end of the route. After you cross a second bridge, go straight ahead, past a big tree, and up a flight of stairs.
Soak #23: Slumbering Beetle Husk
You must visit the Emerald Hall Shrine in Furnace Valley in order to obtain the Slumbering Beetle Husk. This item briefly slows your movement speed while reducing spell cooldowns. To find the altar where Zhu Bajie sat while impersonating Rakshasi in the cinematic, go up to the area where you battled the Keeper of the Flaming Mountains/The Yin-Yang Fish. From this vantage point, you may see the soak in a golden turtle chest on the opposite side of the columns if you look to your left and slightly behind you.
Soak #24: Flame Mediator
Flame Mediator is the name of the last soak you’ll have to find in Chapter 5. The “Searing-Fire” adversary, which looks like a fiery rock on legs, drops this soak at random throughout Chapter 5. In the Field of Fire, next to the Cooling Slope Shrine, is a great spot to grow them. Once you’ve finished the Five Element Carts task and are ready to face the boss guarding the giant ice door, head in that way. Just before you reach the open area, you’ll see a river of fire with a handful of these opponents sitting in it. As you approach, these creatures, which are actually rocks in disguise, will burst into action.
Soaks in Chapter 6: Unfinished
Black Myth: Wukong’s last chapter has just one soak. The Flower Primes soak is introduced to Shen Monkey’s store at the beginning of Chapter 6. As you sip from the Flower Primes, the Destined One will be cleansed of all Four Banes effects, making it a formidable weapon against enemies with multi-element abilities. There may be a few of these enemies throughout the game, but they’re usually among the toughest. This is still a fantastic backup plan for eliminating harmful effects, even if your opponent only employs one element.
Other Soaks
To complete the game and add Graceful Orchid and Guanyin’s Willow Leaf, the last two soaks, to your collection, you have to do a few more tasks.
Graceful Orchid
After you give Chen Loong all fifteen potential seeds in the Zodiac Village of the Ruyi Scroll, you can talk with him to get the Graceful Orchid. Because these seeds are mostly collected at random while selecting plants in each of the six chapters of the game, this can be a bit of a challenge.
When you’ve gathered all the seeds and given them to Chen Loong, you’ll get the Graceful Orchid Soak. The Destined One can drink it to gradually restore more health. The Graceful Orchid serves a purpose comparable to that of Celestial Lotus Seeds. However, it has a longer duration and may restore more health.
Guanyin’s Willow Leaf
You’ll have to complete the game and start a new cycle before you can attempt to obtain Guanyin’s Willow Leaf because it can only be found during New Game Plus. When you see Shen Monkey again in the next Cycle, he will sell you this soak. It is evident that Guanyin’s Willow Leaf is meant to be used in conjunction with the Life-Saving Strand spell; it will restore the Destined One’s Gourd uses upon resurrection during combat. If the Destined One is defeated in the middle of a combat, you can use this in conjunction with the previous spell to restore him to full vigor, but you will lose the raw power that Pluck of Many provides.
In addition to having practical use in gaming, this last soak also begs an intriguing question. Despite her key role in Journey to the West, Bodhisattva Guanyin receives surprisingly little attention in Black Myth: Wukong. Shockingly, her only other appearances are at the conclusion of Chapter 1 and in Black Bear Guai’s diary post; elsewhere in the novel, she is completely gone. Maybe her present location may be explored in future DLC.
